Finding a job can be a very hard task if you do not do the right things correctly. But can be a cup of tea for those who know how to play while searching for it. There are many things that play an important role when one is searching for jobs like whether the job you're applying for is in high or low demand, its availability and many if’s and but’s.

These days, you need to do more than just sending in a decent cover letter and arrive on time for the interview. You need to stand out from the crowd. To make things easier for candidates we are here with some tips. Which you can add when you're applying for jobs.

First things first; What do you want to do?

This part is very crucial and you should spend extra time to find out what you want to do according to your interest and your strengths and weaknesses , so that you can enjoy your journey.

The better you know yourself, the more likely you’ll find a new job that provides you with substantial satisfaction and not give you extra stress because you're doing what you like.

Search for Companies

When you find your area of interest then the next process will become very easy, which is finding a job which does work you like. A great way to find a new job is to investigate a company’s Glassdoor page.

It will help you get a glimpse of the company culture, what questions they commonly ask in interviews , and even come across what salary you’re likely to be paid.

Now it's time for your resume and cover letter

Resume and cover letter are now playing a very crucial role in getting you an interview in your dream company. Your resume should be crisp and on to the point. The content we put in our resume and cover letter is like putting flowers in the vase. Don't put irrelevant things in your resume which your job does not require. Be yourself and be unique which will automatically make you different from the crowd.

Quality matters, not quantity

Nowadays quantity doesn't matter a lot. Putting excess of things in your cover letter will only form a negative impact on your employer.

For example: Ron is applying for a marketing job in ABC ltd. Ron resume should include only experience related to the marketing sector and not the extra unwanted stuff. These things should be considered. Including extra things which are not required in the job only gives a negative impact.

Get things organized first

Organizing things means keeping a record of how many companies you are applying to, which ones are you getting shortlisted for and which ones are rejecting you. Make a spreadsheet that will not make a mess and confuse you when you want to check the data.

Make your own online brand

When an employer will search your name in google what they will find? Hopefully, it's your linkedin, personal webpage. You must need to be using LinkedIn to your full edge.

It’s a great resource for discovering people working at companies and jobs that interest you and also for locating yourself to be found by employers. Do a thorough check to make sure you are using social media.

Focus on practicing for interview

You should practice well before going for an interview. Practice makes the man (interview) perfect. Go for mock interviews that will help you to know your weak point and strong point before going to the actual interview.

You can prepare some of the most frequently asked questions which are universal questions like, Why should we hire you?; Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

Practicing will make you confident and fearless and will help you in getting to places in your dream company.

Do use your Network

Nowadays candidates get entry in their dream companies with their networks. Network plays a very crucial role and opens up more job opportunities. It also helps you to get a glimpse of what is out there and available which you missed, so you can be more tactical in your job search.

Make your linkedin profile stand out . Don’t feel shy to reach out to people on LinkedIn, and if you know someone working at a company where you want to go (dream company), do ask for a referral. Employers would prefer to interview candidates who came recommended before sorting through the resumes occur via a career website.

Be kind to yourself

Going every day for an interview and looking for a job is a very stressful task. Give some time to exercise, good sleep, meditation this will help in recovering and relaxing your body and mind.

Do what you like when you're free. Which gives you extreme happiness. This will directly impact your interview because when your mind is relaxed you can think out of boundaries.

Keep a Positive Attitude

Having a positive attitude is extremely important. Employers can recognize desperation and anguish; companies want to hire practical and capable employees. If you’ve been unemployed for a long period, find ways to shrug it off when you're searching for a job or you will only weaken yourself.

Last impression also counts

Just as the first impression matters, the last impression also counts. When you say a goodbye to your interviewer with a stiff handshake and a big smile , it is not the end. You should ask for a business card too, and then move out. Go to your email and send a thank you note to the interviewer for giving you his precious time.

We all are humans, so these small-small things do leave a big impact on minds. It will definitely put you ahead of many competitors who do not care to do this simple act of courtesy.

Continue following up with hiring managers

Your work is yet not complete once the interview is done or the thank-you note is sent. Following up with the employer regularly shows your interest and enthusiasm for the job . Don't do it too much that you look needy or desperate.
